Wetton Hill – Staffordshire
The Peak District National Park Authority is proposing to make a traffic regulation order to permanently exclude mechanically propelled vehicles along Wetton Hill, a 1.4 km route in the Manifold Valley. The Trailwise ref. is SK0955-01. The route is prone to waterlogging in the winter, but is easily sustainable in dry conditions. GLASS are opposing a full-time TRO - we believe the evidence on this route does not justify a full Traffic Regulation Order, which would be disproportionate and illogical. GLASS would – in view of the specific circumstances of this route - be prepared to support a proportionate seasonal TRO during the wettest months of each year.
You can (and should) have your say by responding to the Peak District National Park Authority's consultation which is on their web site. You can respond directly using their online system by clicking the button at the bottom of the web page http://consult.peakdistrict.gov.uk/details.cfm?TROID=11 or you can write to Rights of Way at Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1AE.
Please make it clear that you are an INDIVIDUAL, and you are OBJECTING to the Authority's proposals for a full time TRO. Please encourage your local club members and green laners to do the same. GLASS have already responded as an organisation under the previous step in the consultation process, and will be reinforcing our case during this public stage. We have also offered to assist with maintenance to help prevent deterioration of the surface.
Representations must be received by the Authority by 5pm on Thursday 6 April 2018.
