GLASS currently has over 1,000 direct members covering most parts of England, Scotland and Wales , with a few elsewhere. Our size is growing steadily. In addition, nearly 40 4x4 and other clubs are affiliated to GLASS bringing our total representation to around 30,000 people.
You can now renew your membership or join GLASS at the GLASS Online Store
All GLASS members receive a quarterly magazine, plus regular newsletters. As well as access to our network of area reps, who have information about the lanes in their area, there are a number of regular local meetings across the country and several annual camping/laning weekends, where you can go laning with a local guide. Members also assist GLASS with stands at many of the countries four wheel drive and other shows. Online members may subscribe to our Email forum, our web based forum, and use the TrailWise List of Roads database.
Being part of a national organisation like GLASS helps individuals to meet other like minded people and to assist in projects that help the overall rights of way network.
Additional benefits for members are listed on the Membership Benefits page.
Funds
GLASS operates a Research Fund which is kept separate from the association's general funds. This fund is used to pay for research into historic evidence, provision of maps or costs in producing archive documents for claims, and assisting any case that may arise affecting rights of way, e.g. in cases where an important legal action is being taken against a user by a Landowner or Highway authority. Club Affiliation fees that are paid to GLASS by affiliated clubs go into this fighting fund (with the exception of an amount equivalent to the annual individual membership fee which covers administration costs).
GLASS also operates a Volunteer Support Fund. This pays for tools, equipment hire, and consumables used in connection with voluntary work on lane maintenance.
Individual members are invited to make a donation to either or both funds.
