Notes on copyright issues in the GLASS Library and Websites
GLASS does not condone or encourage infringement of copyright; it is the responsibility of individual members and website users to satisfy themselves about the issues concerning their actions in this respect.
Where information has been published on the internet, we endeavour to provide links to the original source.
Some articles are contributed by Association members, for other members use. Copyright rests with the original authors.
Copyright in 'Official' publications (like GLASS magazines) normally rests with the Association, unless other arrangements have been made.
Some material like old maps and books is copyright expired, after 70 years.
The Goverment offers advice to the public on copyright and Intellectual Property issues, well worth a look at www.intellectual-property.gov.uk/ Of particular note are the exceptions for research and 'fair dealing'.
Where GLASS supports the use of a particular software product it does so on the basis that the individual user has obtained the correct licence for that software.
For example, we may offer documents in Microsoft Word format, the end user must make his own arrangements for licensing MS Office products. Even "free" reader utilities may require registration.
Only one thing is impossible for God: to find any sense in any copyright law on the planet.
