Bedfordshire emergency closures 1st May 08 |

Dear all
Unfortunately, because of the current wet weather conditions we are having to keep all the County's BOATS closed to vehicular traffic. A number were due to reopen on 1st May following their autumn/winter closure. These emergency closures are necessary to prevent serious and long term damage to the surface. They will last for 3 weeks [to 20th May] or until the weather improves and the ground has recovered, whichever is sooner.
I apologise if these closures cause you inconvenience. However, I am sure you appreciate that we only take this action when it is absolutely necessary and with this short term protection the Byways should be available for longer for all users.
Copies of the notices have been placed on site (and on the website) and any gates remain closed. All vehicular traffic - including motor cycles and carriages will be prohibited during the closure period.
