Bedfordshire emergency closures June 07 *Update 25/07/2007* PDF Print E-mail

Updated 25th June 2007

Due to the prolonged wet weather Bedfordshire County Council have decided to continue the closures for Byways in north east and north west Bedfordshire.

The closures run for upto 3 months or until conditions allow re-opening from the 21st June 2007.

Message from Stuart Harrison Countryside Access Service - Bedfordshire County Council

Dear all
Unfortunately, because of the current (especially wet) weather conditions we are having to close the BOAT's in the North of the County to vehicular traffic.
These closures are necessary to prevent serious and long term damage.
Please assume that these closures apply to all of the Byway's which are covered by the annual seasonal closures (full details on the attached notices) and will have immediate effect. They will last for 3 weeks or until the weather improves and the ground has recovered - whichever is sooner.
I apologise if the closure of the 'lanes' causes you any inconvenience, however, I am sure that you appreciate we only take this action when it is absolutely necessary and with this, short term, protection the lanes should be available for all users - for longer.
Copies of the notices are being placed on site (and on the website) and any gates will be closed. All vehicular
traffic - including motor cycles and carriages will be prohibited during the closure period.
If you have any questions please contact myself or Adrian Fett on 01234 228335 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
Please find attached copies of the emergency closure notices.

I thank you, in advance, for your co-operation.
